On the other hand, <strong>radiation<\/strong> is the only <strong>heat-transmitting<\/strong> mean only based on <strong>electromagnetic waves<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In our daily lives, we deal with many <strong>electromagnetic waves<\/strong> that perform different functions. <strong>Visible light<\/strong>, <strong>radio waves <\/strong>and the <strong>microwaves <\/strong>with which we cook food are all examples of <strong>electromagnetic waves<\/strong> that differ in <strong>frequency <\/strong>and <strong>wavelength<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>frequency <\/strong>of a wave consists in the number of oscillations it makes in one second and is measured in <strong>hertz [Hz]<\/strong>; on the other hand, the <strong>wavelength<\/strong> is the linear distance between two consecutive points at which the wave assumes the same value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">There is a close link between <strong>wavelength <\/strong>and <strong>frequency <\/strong>and therefore, depending on the different fields of application, one or the other is usually referred to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In common jargon, discussions frequently consider <strong>wavelength<\/strong>. However, within this range there are emitters with different wavelengths.<br><br>This means that we can have <strong>IR-A short-wave emitters <\/strong>with wavelengths between <strong>700 nm<\/strong> and<strong> 1400 nm<\/strong>, <strong>IR-B medium-wave emitters <\/strong>with values between <strong>1400 nm<\/strong> and <strong>3000 nm<\/strong>, and finally <strong>long-wave emitters <\/strong>with wavelengths between <strong>3000 nm <\/strong>and<strong> 1 mm<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Of these three types of <strong>infrared radiations<\/strong>, the most widely used for heating is certainly the <strong>short wave<\/strong>. In <strong>Heating lamps<\/strong> using this section of the infrared spectrum the <strong>bulb<\/strong> must reach very high <strong>temperatures<\/strong> of more than <strong>1000 \u00b0C<\/strong> and their heating effect is almost immediate once switched on, with a <strong>penetration<\/strong> rate of around 97%.<br><br>The <strong>cost<\/strong> of these types of <strong>infrared lamps<\/strong> is also very competitive. However, one must remember that the heating effect disappears shortly after the lamp is switched off and that smooth surfaces with light colours can reflect these waves and prevent heating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Fast medium-wave lamps<\/strong> with <strong>IR-B emitters <\/strong>are used very little due to their poor penetration capacity and high cost, while <strong>long-wave infrared heaters<\/strong>, characterised by <strong>ceramic<\/strong> plates, are only used when the surfaces of objects in already partially heated rooms need <strong>to be<\/strong> heated <strong>(to be further investigated)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Art-Eco infrared heaters<\/strong> are all equipped with the most efficient and cost-effective <strong>short-wave IR-A emitters<\/strong>, both for <strong>commercial<\/strong> and <strong>industrial<\/strong> <strong>applications<\/strong>.
